Elemental forces framing the view
As a part of a larger master plan study Brasada Ranch Skylab proposed to turn a neglected portion of landscape into a new outdoor venue. Taking cues from the Crooked River Caldera and Central Oregon Landscape a series of lava rock walls sculpt the landscape into an event space.
In concert with the terrace design an expansion to the existing event barn was studied in order to expand the seating capacity of the venue.

ceremony in the landscape
To mitigate the hot Central Oregon summer days a retractable shade was developed to protect guests. An out building consisting of a bar, restrooms, and event storage anchors the terrace into the hillside.
testing ideas
With the expansion of the terrace indoor seating capacity would need to increase as well. Several options were explored.
