Bringing light into a fortress
Light, Air, and Connection were the primary focuses of this 200,000 sq. ft. renovation of a full-block academic building. A light well was introduced, spanning from the top floor down to the basement, serving as a significant wayfinding and organizational feature. Despite budget constraints, design decisions were carefully made to ensure long-term benefits for the building. These decisions included opening up the facades to the park and street level while upgrading the aging MEP systems and structure.
As a core member of the project team, responsibilities encompassed:
- Design and documentation
- MEP and Structural Consultant Coordination
- Construction Administration - Co-located On-Site
- Project Detailing
- Client presentations
- Design Visualizations
